🕌 How Do We Calculate Zakat?
Zakat is calculated as 2.5% (1/40th) of your total wealth if it reaches the Nisab threshold (the minimum amount that makes zakat obligatory). The Nisab is equal to the market value of:
- 85 grams of gold OR
- 595 grams of silver
If your total net wealth equals or exceeds this amount for one full Islamic year, zakat becomes due.

- Gold & silver (in any form, including unused jewelry)
- Cash savings (in bank accounts, at home, etc.)

- Profits from investments, stocks, and rental income that has been held for a year
- Agricultural produce (calculated at different rates)
- Livestock (camels, cows, sheep, etc. – special Nisab rules apply which are not covered by this simple calculator)
🚫 Which Goods Are Excluded from Zakat?
